Meeting the Team!
Tonight we had our team meeting - first time most of us were in the same room! We are still waiting to meet up with 3 more in Nha Trang! But almost all of us were there and we got to do some fun unpacking!
For all of those out there that donated over 30 boxes of stuff...thank you so much! We sorted 5 huge boxes of medical supplies/medicine, 5 more boxes of toys and fun stuff for the children in Da Lat (at the school we're working in), and about 5 more boxes of toys and games for the children at summer camp! Let's just say that we won't be short on frisbees, crayons, ace bandanges and vitamins for quite some time now!
It's always amazing to see the generosity of so many people from all across the country! Cam on nhieu lam! (Thank you very much!)
We are all getting very tired and will now get a full night's rest in a bed! The hotel here is great!!!! (So sorry to those on past Aid Expeditions!) The Bong Sen is a 5 star hotel (across the street from the Sheraton) and they are one of our corporate sponsors. So our team got them for better than 1/2 price! The floors are clean and the service excellent and we're only 1/2 block away from the Lemongrass restaurant and 1 block away from the Tax Market!
If you know someone who is here and they're not on your shopping list you should make your requests now!!! We're all having fun and taking it all in!
For the little ones that were adopted from Vietnam and this is their first time back (6 year old's) they are hanging in there - exhausted but definitely on sensory overload! I love seeing things through they eyes of a child!
Anyway, we'll post lots of pictures tomorrow!
Have a great night/day!
Peace,
Caroline
VIETNAM at last!
We made it..all of us! We're thrilled and exhausted and even a little stinky ;-)! Some of us had a great night stay in a real bed at the airport hotel in singapore - some of us decided to stay up all night and surf the web and watch 6-year old Emily do cartwheels and back handsprings!
We had an uneventful "walk" through customs - except for me of course. But when I finally agreed with officials and said, "Yes, I'm very very dumb to not know better" they let me through with a stern shake of the finger and warning about next time! Make note - next time y'all travel to Vientam do not pack 100 packs of Polaroid film in suitcase!!!!
All the boxes made it except for one and everyone is safe and sound! We are trying to forge ahead and not sleep this afternoon so that we can get a full night's sleep tonight. We have our team meeting tonight and then tomorrow we're off to do medical check ups for 220+ children! That should take us the whole day for sure!
We're really looking forward to meeting the kids and ready for the "expedition" part of our trip to begin!
Thanks again for all the e-hugs we love them!!! Ta Ta For Now!
Peace,
Caroline
